Probably, all our grandparents cooked and loved this simple rural dish, the recipe was passed down from generation to generation, each family had its own culinary secret and their traditions. I am sharing with you our family signature recipe for dumplings, according to which my grandmother cooked. I’ll tell you honestly, a hearty dish, I won’t advise it for every day - the figure will suffer. However, compared to fried potatoes with cutlets, calories are still less.

The most difficult part of the dumpling recipe is to “kick” the potatoes, although modern kitchen gadgets make this difficult task easier. I, in the old fashioned way, rub potatoes on a fine grater, or use “brute male power”, which then absorbs the finished dish with appetite.

Classical Belarusian recipe dumpling, of course, with pork. Choose not very fatty meat, and even better take homemade minced meat, which is half pork, half beef.

We start with minced meat. It must be kneaded well so that the dumplings keep their shape and do not fall apart during cooking.
