    Content

Such a meat dish as cabbage rolls is familiar to many. It is prepared from minced meat, which is wrapped in cabbage leaves, and then stewed in a saucepan, in a frying pan or in a slow cooker. You can diversify its taste with sauces: tomato, cream, mushroom, spicy or even cheese. Thanks to the right sauce, this simple dish can be turned into a real culinary masterpiece.

    How to make cabbage sauce

To prepare the sauce, you do not need to have any special cooking skills, but nevertheless, there are some recommendations that help make the gravy especially tasty. There are two types of sauces: with or without flour. Although the methods of their preparation vary slightly, there are common ones:

    1. For tomato sauce, it is preferable to choose fresh tomatoes rather than tomato paste. In winter, when tomatoes do not have such a bright taste, you can get by with purchased pasta.
    2. Before preparing tomato sauce from tomatoes, you need to peel the fruit from a thin skin. This is done simply: pour boiling water over the tomatoes, and the skin can be easily cleaned. Grind the pulp in a blender.
    3. Onions and carrots, previously fried in butter, will help to make the sauce for cabbage rolls from tomato paste more saturated.
    4. If you decide to make a flour-based sauce, then you should not add it too early, but only 15 minutes before the entire dish is ready. This is done because the longer you simmer the flour sauce, the thicker it becomes, and it is better to stew the meat in liquid.
    5. You can add a special flavor to the sauce with the help of spices or fresh herbs. Be sure to throw bay leaves, your favorite seasonings, or finely chopped greens into the pan.

It is recommended to experiment with gravy only when you are not preparing it for the first time and are sure that you will not spoil the dish with additional ingredients.
